AT SOLARSMART CUSTOMER RATING IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO

In the land before time – or common decency – there was a popular film based on the premise of an aging guy falling in love with a woman he sees running on a beach and “scores” as a perfect “10”. In fact, that’s what the 1979 film – starring Bo Derek and Dudley Moore – is called, “10”, and it was a box office smash.
The premise may seem ancient, sexist and, frankly, pretty creepy. But the human obsession with attaching a numerical score to services, businesses, and individuals hasn’t gone away. In fact, it’s now common place.
Your doctor asks you to rate your pain on a scale of 1 to 10. Your delivery driver’s boss asks you to rate their service on a similar scale, as do the “customer care” lines of most phone companies and banks.
If you rent accommodation through AirBnB, both guest and host rate each other after the stay. Woe betide the host whose ratings don’t hit the five-star mark – they are in for a gently chastising letter from host services suggesting they review “what they can do better”.
Over at Uber things are pretty much the same. But in Uber’s case, as this driver’s forum suggests, if a passenger’s rating dips down toward 4.5, they risk not finding a driver willing to pick them up!
Customer ratings are clearly here to stay. And SolarSmart is not afraid.
We embrace the customer rating concept – and are proud to highlight our score of 4.9/5.0 on Trustpilot – based on more than 100 reviews. A score like ours means that 95% of our customers have given SolarSmart 5 stars – for service, price, reliability and efficiency.
SolarSmart Customer Rating
And we believe that all our customers deserve five-star treatment. That’s why we’ve incorporated a range of services that enable us to meet their individual needs:
- Grant process made easy
As of January 2025, the maximum amount of the Sustainable Energy Authority’s (SEAI’s) grant for installing solar will be €1,800. That’s a sizeable portion of the cost of the average installation. Unlike other companies, at SolarSmart we absorb the SEAI grant upfront and complete the application process for you. We take on the wait for the SEAI grant payment and reimbursement. Clients have told us this has made a real difference in their ability to move forward with the switch to solar.
- Bespoke installations and fittings
Not every house is the “average” home. We love the challenge of bringing solar power to the far corners of Ireland. That’s why we teamed with Solar Structures to design solar installations for hard-to-reach locations, period buildings, and outdoor spaces. Last summer, for instance, we installed a 35-panel, 16.6kWp system to power a pub in County Kerry. The system will produce almost 40% of the electricity needed annually to keep the pints flowing.
We’ve collaborated with Solar Structures on a range of custom installations – lean-to style bike sheds, verandas, awnings, pergolas and car ports. Apartment dwellers, we predict, could see real benefit from an awning style “solar structure” over an existing balcony. These unique upgrades add living space and value to homes while improving energy efficiency.
- After care
Solar energy systems are already noteworthy for their reliability. It is important, however, to keep your solar energy system in top condition. This ensures your home’s safety and maximises energy production and savings.
That’s why we offer a comprehensive solar after sales service to help you troubleshoot any issues and get your system back up and running quickly and efficiently.
Our team of highly trained and experienced technicians can handle a wide range of solar system repairs, from minor issues to major component replacements. To minimise downtime, we strive to provide a fast and efficient repair service at a competitive price. We stand behind our work with comprehensive warranties on all our repair services.
- 4.9 out of 5 stars
We’re proud of that customer rating – but we aim to do even better in 2025. We know that we can achieve that goal by being here for every step, of every customer’s solar journey.
