SOLAR PV REPAIRS: MAKE YOUR SYSTEM EVEN GREENER

A commitment to triple global renewable energy production by 2030. That’s the most exciting agreement coming out of COP28. “The fact that the tripling target is included in final COP text,” concluded the Global Solar Council, “is an unequivocal signal that renewables are in, and fossil fuels are out.”
Like the vast majority of the climate conscious, however, those in solar are disappointed that COP28’s delegates are claiming major success on the back of a toothless consensus to “transition” away from fossil fuels. It’s a pledge that came without any mechanism to enforce real action, a result that some – including the Guardian’s George Monbiot – labelled “a farce” that consigns hope of limiting global warming to only 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels to “oblivion”.
The Global Solar Council’s response was more diplomatic, and called upon its own members to bridge the gap between aspiration and action, saying of the final agreement:
“This text still leaves too many backdoors for countries to escape from taking meaningful action. But where COP falls short, the renewables industry can pick up the slack.”
“It is thanks to the plummeting cost and innovation of solar and renewables that 1.5 C is still just within reach. Let’s celebrate the pledge we secured now, but get ready for the work that still lies ahead to achieve this target and keep 1.5 C truly alive.”
Political commitment is one thing, but we in the industry know that challenges exist. We’ll need to scale up infrastructure to accommodate a decentralised energy system, boost supply chains to deliver solar PV rapidly and economically, and work to make solar as sustainable as possible.
Keep Your Solar Panels Running Smoothly with Our Expert Repair Services
At SolarSmart, we’re determined to play our part in meeting those challenges. We’ve travelled all over the country these past few years, installing our own solar PV systems and meeting homeowners who are looking to upgrade, expand, or repair systems installed by others.
Our experience tells us that one of the most important things we can do as an industry is to help homeowners get the most out of their solar energy system by keeping it in tip-top shape for maximum efficiency and longevity.
Solar PV systems are already noteworthy for their reliability. We believe that in the solar panel installer industry, we can’t just crow about it, we need “to walk the walk” on sustainability. Whether it’s to install, repair, or recycle, SolarSmart is ready to stay with our customers throughout their solar journey.
Here are the principle issues we’ve noted on our travels:
Damaged solar panels: Panels themselves are simple, with no moving parts. That means they are generally low maintenance. Sometimes, though, heavy storms or hail can damage the surface. In some instances, that will to require the replacement or resealing of a panel.
Inverter failure: The inverter is a critical component of your solar PV system. An inverter converts the direct current (DC) a solar panel generates to alternating current (AC) electricity, which the electrical grid uses. If the inverter fails, it can shut down the entire system.
Wiring problems: Faulty wiring – loose cables, cracks or breaks in wire, etc. – can cause a variety of problems, including safety hazards and system malfunctions.
Grounding issues: Simply put, grounding your solar PV installation gives lightning a safe direct path to the ground. While one can’t prevent lightning from striking your panels, once can prevent it causing damage or fire. Proper grounding is essential for safety, and grounding problems can pose a serious risk.
It is important to keep your solar energy system in top condition not only for safety, but to maximize your energy production and savings.
That’s why we offer a comprehensive solar PV repair service to help you troubleshoot any issues and get your system back up and running quickly and efficiently.
Our team of highly trained and experienced technicians can handle a wide range of solar PV repairs, from minor issues to major component replacements. To minimize downtime, we strive to provide a fast and efficient repair service at a competitive price. We stand behind our work with comprehensive warranties on all our repair services.
As an industry, and as consumers, we can continue to improve the sustainability of solar by improving the working lifespan of solar energy systems.
Investing in Solar PV systems can bring many benefits, including reduced energy bills, increased energy independence, and a reduced carbon footprint. If you are interested in installing a solar panel system, it is worth exploring the different grant options available and seeking professional advice from one of our solar energy advisors.
